Home Baker

Being a home baker is such an important part of my life that I chose it as one of my key features to introduce myself. I love making sourdough bread and perfecting its flavours and techniques. What does this have to do with Ireland?

My home baking started out of a necessity, namely not finding a great variety of bread when I first came to Ireland. Whilst I devour Irish brown and soda bread, as a German I missed my sourdoughs and healthy rye breads. Once I got into home baking, I was hooked.

For years now I have been making bread on a daily basis, alongside with trying out healthy recipes for meals and cakes. As a mother-of-three I consider it my responsibility to provide my children with homemade food. They might not be as excited about home baking as I am, but surely appreciate a freshly-cut loaf in their lunch boxes.

I am also a big advocate of the Irish cuisine. Together with a friend in Sweden, I started a German food blog introducing Irish and Swedish recipes. It features stories about both countries, as well as art illustrations.
